Hi,

There is one Tibeaudo on the Griffiths Valuation. He is William in Scarragh in Kilbarron North Tipperary. surely with such an unusual name, he has to be related?

I can't add much to your search at the moment, but I am researching the same surname in Ireland, which I'm sure must be rare. I have a bit of research that was given to me by a distant relative, but I'm still in the process of confirming it.

My Tibeaudo lines (it has so many spellings, but most commonly as Tibeaudo or Thibeaudeau) reportly comes from France originally but was in Ireland for at least three generations. The areas Offaly, Tipperary, Laoighis, Clonaslee and Kilbarron are commonly given. Names that are very common are Joseph, Oliver (and Olivia) and Anselm. I am wondering if your A. Tibeaudo might be Anselm. Occording to my information Joseph Oliver Tibeaudo married Harriett Edghill in 1825 in Clonaslee. The Edghill family and several Tibeaudo's went to Austrailia about 1860, but Harriett went to Canada with her children (she was a widow). Joseph's father is reported to be Oliver Anselm Tibeaudo and his father as Anselm Tibeaudo.

I'm hoping that we might be able to share research. I imagine it is an extremely rare name in Ireland.

I will look through my notes and see if I can add anything to this.

One correction. Joseph Oliver's father was Oliver Anselm Tibeaudo. I don't have any information about Oliver Anselm's parents.

Both Oliver and Anselm were very commonly used names in the family--especially together. Based on the time (1820) your A. Tibeaudo might be Oliver Anselm.

Thank you to "danishdots" for parish register name "Tibeaudo" Coolbanagher Parish  This is family I am researching.  These must be Church of Ireland?  Are the registers on film at LDS or are they held at the RCBL (Representative Church Body Library) in Dublin?  You have supplied some missing dates for my tree and I thank you.

Thanks for your reply :).

I am, at the moment, collating the baptisms and deaths of Coolbanagher Parish.  We are celebrating the 225th anniversary of the present church in May.

I was talking recently to one of the Tibeaudo descendents!......who lives in our united parish of Mountmellick, Coolbanagher, Rosenallis and Clonaslee.

Good wishes,

Have also been trying to find ancestor for William Mason, who married Ursula Baldwin, of Summerhill, Queens Co.  Their daughter Susan (1754-1820) married Oliver Anselm Tibeaudo (1748-1822). This William Mason was born Co., Limerick. Would love to be able to connect him to the Reverend John Henderson Mason (married Julia Tibeaudo) or William Shaw Mason, the famous bibliographer whose father Joseph Mason, (1753-1816)  was also born near Coolabanagher.

Here is the Joseph Mason whose death you found recorded in Coolabanagher Parish.  Joseph's daughter Olivia Mason  (sister to famous William Shaw Mason), was second wife of Henry Hutton, (alderman & later Chief Magistrate of City of Dublin, also related to the family of well known coach builders from Dublin).  Henry Hutton's first wife was Elizabeth Barber (died 1793 Dublin), and their daughter Olivia Hutton married Richard William Tibeaudo (1790-1856), son of Oliver Anselm Tibeaudo & Susannah Mason, daughter of William Mason & Ursula Baldwin. Round and round we go!!

More about Joseph Mason, father of William Shaw, Olivia, and  Edward Groves Mason in his obituary:

1816, Dec. 1. In Charlemont-street, Dublin, in his 63th year, Joseph Mason esq. He was the younger son of a respectable family which had been for some time settled at Little Coolbanagher, in the Queen's County, adjoining Shane Castle, the residence of the late Dean Coote. Mr. Mason was early introduced into active life, and long held a confidential and laborious situation in the office for the payment of corn premiums, where, for many years previously to its suppression, he was one ef the deputy-paymasters. He has been often heard to say that when he first came to Dublin he had not more than a guinea in his pocket, and that, although in the course of his official duties sums to the amount of more than 60.000/. annually passed through his hands, yet he never left, his account one shilling in arrears. Mr. Mason was first married to Miss Groves, sister to the late James Groves, esq. an eminent attorney in Dublin, by whom he had issue three surviving children: Wm.-Shaw, author of the Statistical Survey of Ireland; Olivia, first married to Alderman Hutton, late Lord Mayor of Dublin, and now the wife of Robert White, esq. of Grafton-street, in the same city, one of the firm of the house of Hawkes, Moieley, and Co. London; and Edward-Groves, of the First Fruits Office. Mr. Mason was afterwards married to Miss Andrews, eldest sister of Alderman Andrews of Dublin. His remains are deposited in the cemetery of St. John's Church, Coolbanagher, within a mile of the place of his nativity.

Absolutely relevant.

Henry Mason Lougheed was married to Caroline Thomasine Tibeaudo, April 17, 1850, St Peter's Dublin (from posting on this board by "Maryderry").  Caroline was daughter of Oliver Anselm Tibeaudo, (1793-1860) a solicitor, and wife Caroline Wall.  They were married Sept 21, 1818:

I have not been able to link the "Tabuteau" surname to "Tibeaudo".  Joseph & his wife Ellen Crowe had a son in the clergy, Reverend Augustus Tabuteau who married Mary Eliza Herrick & became curate of St Thomas Anglican Church, Westmorland England.

I believe individual who became consul to the Netherlands was Bartholomew Moliere Tabuteau 1799-1869 "Knight of the Lion of the Netherlands".  His brother Augustus Elliott 1797-1874 married Ann Marie Manley.
