I have a William Tait in my tree who was married to a Mary.
He was born I think 1816 in Cummertrees.
They had a daughter Mary who married James Scott and that’s all I really know.
Any other information would be great.

How did you get back to their daughter?
How did you get back to their daughter marrying?
How did you know that it was that particular Mary who married Mr Scott.
Who were their children, DoBs?
etc.

(Likely should be Hoddam Bridge)

By 1891 Cathrine has another child, Robert McMorine is still there, the Father?
He is still there with her and Son her James in 1901.

There appears to be only one William Tait who could be yours in Dumfriesshire died
in 1877 aged 61.
Go to ScotlandsPeople website and download the cert from that you will get his parents .You will need to get some credits £7 for 30 --6 will let you see and download it.
The Ref no is 812/52.
