Title: FORREST family - DNA research

Hi,

Are there any descendants of the Forrest families from Lanarkshire on here that have undertaken a DNA test through Ancestry, FTDNA or My Heritage?

I'd like to make contact to share and compare results / tree.

I have my results on all 3 sites mentioned, plus Gedmatch.  (Gedmatch number T037587)

PS - If you are a direct male Forrest descendant with documented evidence of your Forrest heritage in Scotland I might be able to arrange a FREE YDNA test (this isn't the same as the standard test you get from Ancestry and such).

Hi Dave, Are you researching the John Forrest born 1779  and his wife Janet Smith born  c 1777 Lanakshire ?

Dave Forrest, but it might be easier to do a 1 to 1 comparison on Gedmatch.  My kit number there is now CW3756853

Not in my tree that I can see.  Unsure whether I've looked into them for other Forrest contacts I've been in touch with via my Forrest Facebook group.

 and a - James Forest & wife Barbara Gilmore
     Both in Lanarkshire

Neither in my tree, but....

Walter and Elizabeth I've looked at in the past. 
Walter was born / baptised 2 Mar 1813 Cambusnethan to John Forrest / Helen Smith.   
I'm in contact with several people that are descended from John / Helen.   Can't recall off top of my head if they have all taken DNA tests.

I've also looked at James Forrest 18 Mar 1811 and Barbara Gilmore / Gilmour also descended from same couple. 

John / Helen appear to have had at least 6 children from about 1811 - 1826

My contacts will have more info on the family than I do.

 Just thought I would share what I had if you needed it.
 This research I did many years ago and of course I just storing it...LOL
    We were in touch years back...
Some of my research drives me crazy. Trying to update my ancient stuff, like the late 1600 and early to mid 1700...so little to draw from.
