I am looking for information on my x2 Great Grandfather William Lawrence born abt 1826 in Hertfordshire as stated on his death cert 1897 overseer at Blenheim Farm, Longford ,Tasmania, Australia.
He married Ann Campbell on the 11th October 1856, Launceston Tasmania,Australia. Witnessed by Ann's Father John Campbell.
Has children
William John 1858
Thomas Campbell
Walter Allan
George Blenheim
Ernest Albert
Laura Ann
Tasman Robert
Percy Donald
Cristinna 1880
I cant seem to find any information in 1841 or 1851 census that would match naming patterns ??

Do you have the marriage certificate for William & Ann? If so what is the name of William's father and the father's occupation?
Hopefully those two pieces of information may help in locating the father in the census records.
Do I take it that William arrived in Australia after the 1851 census?

When you have found these Baptisms on FreeREG you click on the Deatils and it will show Parents names.
Familysearch.Org has several also 1821-1828 in Herts.
Rememeber on Census the name could be spelt Lawrence/Lawrance/Laurance etc

The Tasmanian marriage certificate doesn't give any details of parents.
You can see the original here:

Gender:Male
Age:31
Spouse:Campbell, Ann

They were married in the Wesleyan Chapel so maybe you should be looking for a non-conformist baptism record.

Thank you all for the replies and hints. I am pretty new to this so all the sites and hints are very helpful.
The record with parents Thomas and Mary might be him ?? I will also check out non-conformist baptisms.
He died on the 29th of May 1896 aged 69?
married 1856 aged 31? so birth in between 1825-1827 ?

It may take a bit of work but if you have access to Census I would search for all those Williams on 1841/1851/1861 Census to see if any of them disappear after 1851 Census.
EG the one born c 1823 is still in England in 1871
(oops forgot to add born Ware from memory)

The Barkway one (1828) is still here in 1861 - married with two young children
