Hi all,
I am trying to figure out my 6th great-grandmother parents and siblings were. Lucy Beach abt 1781 born in Stourbridge, Worcestershire. Lucy married Jeremiah Billingham 26 Dec 1800 in St. Mary's, Kingswinford, Stafford. I cannot seem to find no Lucy Beach baptism, only one that is popping up is in Dorset ??? 2 of her census, one says Old Swinford, Stourbridge and another says Cradley, Lye. District is Stourbridge. Would Stourbridge district at one time was in the border for Dorset please? This is thee only Lucy Beach I've found;
Name
Lucy Beach
Mother
Lucy
Father
Henry Beach
Baptism
28/03/1779 Gussage-St. Michael Dorset England
Many Thanks,
Patricia

Dorset is S.E. England. Stourbridge Worcs. is W. central England.

A witness at the 1800 Marriage was a Joseph BACHE so may be another alternate surname for Lucy.
(FreeREG)
There are 3 other Beach Marriages Kingwinford 1799/1799/1802.
2 under Beech 1793/1810
7 under Bache 1792-1807
1 under Bach 1800
I only searched 1791-1810
So several alternate spellings for Beach are likely.

1841 census only indicates whether born in County or not. 1851 she says born Cradley but no records exist pre 1785 as it was a Chapel made out of Halesowen. There are Beach's there & in other Parishes surrounding Cradley so no reason to believe she's the one born in Dorset.

Hi thanks Jim and Trish. Trish where too was you able to see the marriage please? Ancestry shows me no image :( Shame there is no records in census before 1841, I have found a 'Anne Beach' baptised in the same church as the Lucy.
Thank you so much both, it's much appreciated. Cos banging on this brick wall is just annoying for so long.

Only just re-read your post and saw that you looked in the FreeREG site, thanks. I'll take a look over there.

1841 Census just states Lucy Billingham is born in County (1841 does not state pob for anyone), 1851 she is born Cradley, Worcs (for others under Bellingham on Anc.)
1841 Census
Lucy Billingham, 60 Independant
Jeremiah Billingham, 30 Chain Maker
Eli Billingham, 25 Chain Maker
Samuel Billingham, 19
Having said all that I ant find a Lucy Beach/Beech/Bache/Bach c 1780 Cradley ::)

Clutching at straws now but there was a child Foley Billingham b. 1805 to Jeremiah & Lucy. There may be a Beach Foley marriage somewhere.

Hi, Foley Billingham abt 1805 married Honour Woodhouse 24 May 1824. Foley Billingham is Jeremiah and Lucy son. Foley and Honour had 3 boys and a girl.

Cradley is a well known chain making area.
My faher's paternal family were from Kingswinford. Some of their certs. are from Stourbridge others were Dudley registered. That whole area is fluid where they registered births, marriages and deaths. My 3rd gt grandparents went from Kingswinford to St Thomas's in Dudley to baptise their children but the children married at Kingswinford.
My father's maternal side started in Old Swinford but migrated through Kingswinford to West Bromwich then back to Kingswinford. The area was part of the Black Country and there was lots of heavy industry during Victorian times (industrial revolution).

Billingham does has variations to it, Billingham or Bellingham. For example Foley Billingham but passed away registered as Foley Bellingham.

It's all so confusing for me, I'm always debating if that could be right person, right family, etc. I see's the distance on google map and I'm like could it be ??? The boundaries or the places people may travel for marriage or baptism's just confuses me.

I would forget about Dorset. She's not from there. There doesn't appear to be any Baptisms for Cradley pre 1785 so you won't find her. There are lots of Beach's in Worcestershire so no reason to believe she's from anywhere else.

Hmmmm, only their marriage would show up who the parents were. But I don't think I can order a marriage for the 1800 :/
