Could anyone enlighten me as to why a soldier would not go with his Battalion to France?
William Mounce enlisted in the Ox & Bucks in March 1914 and was posted to Letter B Company of the 2nd Battalion Ox & Bucks LI ( this information from the Research and Archives Section). This Battalion went to France on 13 August. However on William's Medal Roll Index Card it states he did not get to France until 29 Nov 1914. Where had he been for the last 3 months ?
Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks.

Possibly held back as there were Reservists still at the Depot being trained.
Looks like they all came over together on the 30th.

Thanks - i did wonder if he was still being trained.

I've added to the above post. I don't know if you've seen it.
I don't think he was being trained but assisting in the training of Reservists.

That sounds even better - thanks so much :D It has just been niggling away at my brain.
