Require help in tracing family tree, been in Scotland’s people and still slightly lost.
My wife’s grandmother was born 1910 Helen McKenzie Clark, mother listed as Constance Clark on her marriage to Thomas McLaughlin.
Now looking at the poorhouse census in 1911 we found Constance age 26 and Helen aged 1 in Elgin poorhouse, we can’t find any marriage or death fir Constance Clark or Innes ,
If anyone can help would be really helpful, did find a Constance Innes born to a Jane Innes no father in 1880,
HELP before the other half spends another £20 per night clinking on a Constance that isn’t the right one

mother listed as Constance Clark on her marriage to Thomas McLaughlin.
we can’t find any marriage or death fir Constance Clark or Innes ,
Where does Innes feature? You say Helen was born as Clark and her mother was also Clark
If Constance was 26 in 1911 that gives an 1884/5 birthyear. Does the entry show her birthplace?
Is Constance shown as married/widowed or single
1901 has one b 1883 Urquhart and she is with grandparents in 1891

She was born 1909 - have you downloaded her birth cert?

Agree with Carole,
Birth will give at least mother's name (if illegitimate).

Thank you too everyone
We found the marriage certificate for Helen McKenzie Clark married Thomas McLaughlin in 1932 in aberdeen she was 22 and her mother was Constance Clark, not down as deceased.
Now I have searched for Constance Clark death can’t find her anywhere,
We did find a Constance Clark in the poor house Elgin in 1911, along with her daughter Helen McKenzie Clark.
We believe Constance was born to Jean Innes as no father
Where did Constance Clark or innes go, she’s on the marriage cert of Helen and no records after that
Did find s record as mentioned here of jean innes husband dying in accident Lossiemouth harbour.
Any pointers or further help would be great, Mrs was up till well past 1am looking, no other family members alive to ask

Jim, from Ev's details, there is mention of other children for Constance (William, Janet, and Edward). Is this accurate? Were they born before or after Helen?

Wonder if this is the same Constance as the one mentioned on the Libindx record ?

Hard to be sure Rosie?
The cert. would be a help but I have a feeling she too was illegitimate?
It crossed my mind, if she'd been illegitimate & her mother (Jane) later married could she have then started using the mother's new married name?

Hi
Did find out that Constance Clark mother Jane Innes married a McLeod though passed away two years later.
The Clark comes from the moray listing mentioned on here that her father passed away accident Lossiemouth harbour.
Though on my Mrs grandmothers Helen McKenzie Clark wedding certificate states mother Constance Clark not deceased, searched Scotland’s people can’t find matching record for Constance Clark dying in scotland after daughters wedding in 1932.
Searched Ancestry.co.uk still can’t find her.
The whole Constance Clark thing is driving us crazy, as 1911 census shows she and Helen in poor house, Constance age as 26, though we believe she was born 1881?.
