Hi. I'm hoping to track down relatives of George Edward Chandler who died in Williamstown, Melbourne in 1982. He was descended from Alfred Neck who travelled to Australia from Bridgwater, Somerset in the 1840s. I thought maybe I could advertise in a local newspaper but not sure what the best one would be. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi MikeMatt
Dont think its going to be successful. Looks as if George didnt marry but a brother Albert Reuben Chandler (named after father died 1929 obit http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article69518811 ) did
Albert Reuben Chandler 1911-1986 also in Williamstown married Havis Violet Tucker in 1930. A Herald Sun tribute notice from 2009 states a son died and both parents deceased . No mention of other family and Melbourne people might be able to describe Keilor House and its likely occupants.
Thats the last apart from noting Havis is mentioned as passing in 1995 aged 80. That makes a marriage age of 15. So that seems uncomfirmed. Her cremated remains are at Altona Cemetery.
George Edwards cremated remains are also at Altona cemetery. You can find more at this site
http://www.gmct.com.au/deceased-search.aspx
You can find an address from 1974 Sands and McDougall Directory for AR Chandler on https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/ search "free journals''
There may be other children but they span the available birth records up to and after 1917
Albert Reuben 1911-1986
Frederick Sinclair 1913-1937
William Herbert 1916- 1916
George Edward 1917/18-1982
So thats an example of the finds you can make from Trove , Vic BDM and associated sites
Good luck
