Could someone please tell me what Manchester St is shown on attached photo.taken about 30 years ago. Thanks Sue.

I think it's actually Liverpool - Water Street with the Royal Liver Building at the end. The top picture on this page was taken from a little higher up:

For those who are interested in such things, the bus in your picture appears to be consistent with the Merseybus maroon livery of around 1989 onwards:

Thanks Arthurk. I m sure you're right. I received it from a relative in Australia who thought it was Whitworth St Manchester. Sue

Hi suzyf.
Are you sure this street is in Manchester?.
I was brought up in Manchester and do not recognise this street, and also the bus on the road does not look like a Manchester bus to me, but I could be wrong.

I immediately thought it was the junction of Whitworth St and Oxford St.
Where the big red insurance building was on the corner. Can’t remember the name —-Refuge Insurance.
There was a musical instrument shop on the opposite corner and the Tatler small news theatre cinema. The Palace Theatre was opposite the Refuge building on the very end of Whitworth St.
I can’t see the big bird which is on the Liver building.
There was a dance hall,The Plaza a little further up from the Refuge building.

It's directly above the clock, so cut off the top of this picture. You can see it on the page I linked to in my first reply:

I agree, Water Street in Liverpool.

After a second look I realised it was not where I thought it was and tried to delete my first post.
I saw what looked like the waterfront, and of course that it could not be Manchester.
Thanks.
