Title: Petty Court Session need deciphering
Post by: commander99 on Saturday 30 June 18 17:18 BST (UK)
I have linked an image from findmypast of a court session involving my great great grandfather. I can't read it though so don't know what it's about. I would greatly appreciate if someone could decipher it for me. Thank you.

Just want to mention the top column is the relevant one. With Timothy Spring. Sorry, didn't notice there were multiple cases.

Welcome to RootsChat!

Date of order - 29 October 1906
Complainant - Timothy Spring of Tralee
Defendant - Thomas Foley of 70 Bo???? Tralee
Cause of complaint - Assault - Deft (Defendant) on the 26 October 1906 at Tralee Co Kerry did unlawfully Assault said Complnt (Complainant)
Particulars of order or dismissal - No appearance

Whether it means that either Spring or Foley didn't show up at court, or whether the case was rescheduled or dropped, I can't tell.  You have the left-hand page here - can you see anything on the right-hand page?

Carol

I only saw that one image on the site so there isn't any other page. Thanks though.

I agree with Carol that there looks to be more information on the facing page.

The columns are numbered 1 - 7 on the LH page and begin with 8 on the facing page.

Go back to the record image in FindMyPast, and see if there are buttons to allow you to browse forward (and back) in the record set.  There should be, but with FindMyPast nothing is a given.

i've found it on FindMyPast and I have to agree with the OP, there is no facility to see what is on the next page.

Thanks Mckha - knowing FindMyPast as I do I'm not surprised.

What happens next is that in 18 months time FindMyPast will trumpet "Browse on Irish Petty Session Records!" as a new addition to their site - when it should have been there all along.

I don't have access so can't have a look but is it possible to use the 'trick' we use on the Irish Census of changing the last digit of the address to move to the next page. Worth a try.
