Please does anyone have any information about the parents of Adam Shearn born 1803, Farrington Gurney. The info. that I have is father George mother Sophia Emery both aged 13 at the time of Adams birth. Possible but are they the correct parents? Thanks.

George Shearn did not marry Sophia Emery until 15 Jun 1813 at Farrington-Gurney, Somerset. Their son Adam was not baptised until 1828.

Adam, 1828, shows with George and Sophie and more family in 1841 census.
There is an Adam Shearn who dies age 52 in 1855 (buried 22nd July at Walcot St Swithin)- is this the mix-up?

One possible reason for no baptism record for Adam Shearn in 1803 is that he was illegitimate. The only Adam baptised at Farington Gurney in the right time frame is a son of Mary Collins. Interestingly, she also seems to have had a son Thomas in 1797. Perhaps they had the same father and he was a Shearn. (There appear to have been lots of Shearns in FG at that time.) A Thomas Shearn was buried in Walcot in 1843, aged 46, so that fits with the birth of Thomas Collings.
