Hello RootsChatters,
This is Aunt Ruby sitting in an unknown make of car. The photo was taken in Australia and has the year 1955 written on the back. There appears to be a name on the hub caps, but I'm unsure what it is. Can any motor vehicle experts read what the word is?
Thanks for your help.

Looks like it's a Vauxhall Wyvern L series "Caleche Tourer" 1951 ish specifically for the Australian market, regards, John.

Good one :) I'd found some Holdens with a similar shaped bonnet, but the radiator grille and other details were wrong. This one looks to be pretty much spot on.

Well spotted, i suppose the bonnet is a bit of a pointer as well.

Just found this photo on the net, J

Thank you hoobaloo, arthurk, purlin and barryd for your prompt replies, and also the photo and web link. The car belonged to my grandfather who lived in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia.

Just a touch of color for the photo. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you DrDude45 for the colour version of the Vauxhall car photo. It certainly brightens the picture and brings it to life. Well done!
