Title: Burial of great grandmother
Post by: buddysmum on Sunday 10 June 18 20:38 BST (UK)
Hi all I have just found out that my great grandmother who died in Medway Union Hospital in Chatham was as states       Buried by the board in Gillingham      I understand that would mean a pauper grave so no headstone ECT.   The thing is how would I find out where she is . The one church with a burial ground in Gillingham was full . The council ground had opened in 1907 and she died in 1909 so seems she should be there . Would they still be listed in a pauper grave as I have looked before and could not find her . If it states Gillingham does that mean that's where she should be .   Thank you

Have you tried Grange Road Cemetery Gillingham, it opened in 1860 and closed 1973.

Yes I have tried there but if I remember there was only 9 burials after 1897 and sadly she wasn't one of them . So the only other place I can think of is Woodlands cemetery.
