Title: Mormon pioneer
Post by: MacGrigor on Sunday 03 June 18 14:43 BST (UK)
Hello,

I am not a Mormon, so I don't know exactly what this record shows:

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QKDW-TCDS

It's for the brother of my 3x great-great-grandfather. He moved to the US as a Mormon pioneer it seems. He states his parents the same as my ancestor, except my family stayed in England. I understand the terms mission and baptism, but not set apart.

Can anyone help?

Adam

This collection consists of an index of registers kept to record the departure and return of missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through Salt Lake City. The collection covers the years 1860 to 1937

William Salter age 78
William Salter crossed the plains with a wagon train. Music was so important to his family, he forfeited much of his wagon space allocated for personal items to carry a pump organ instead. The family settled in Davis county and each week the organ was loaded onto the wagon and hauled to the church so that the members could enjoy the music.............etc etc

Hi MacGrigor.
Wondering if you found out more about your relatives in Davis County, Utah.
A number of mine made similar journies, some to Bountiful.
