John Calvin Anderson born 1804[?] and died 1846 in Mississippi.

That's all the information I know, I found his details on a DNA project, he shares a rare Y haplotype with me, as well as my surname

There is an ancestry tree (with photo) which gives John Calvin Anderson 1804–1845
born 1804 - South Carolina - passed away 12 February 1845 - Amite, Mississippi.
married to Margaret Elizabeth Parsons - 1805 - 1863
Sadly no parents added

marriage - Anderson, John C. - Parsons, Mary - 18 Nov 1823

On another anc tree it speculates on parents - John Berryman Anderson born 1780 South Carolina and Mary Caston. Perhaps an angle you could follow up.

Excerpt from this link mentions John Calvin Anderson.

http://www.myoutbox.net/aedob.htm

"My mother was Mary Jane Anderson, born May 1, 1840 (the night the stars fell). The Andersons were Scotch also, and those who first came to this country settled in South Carolina, around where the town of that name now is located. There was an "Anderson Clan" in Scotland, some members of which were notable people, the record says.

Her father was John Calvin Anderson (more Scotch Presbyterians) and as a youth was bound out to learn the hatter's trade. Every boy in those days, however wealthy his parents, had to learn a trade at which he could support himself, if need be. But this was too slow for young John C., so he ran away and came to Mississippi. Along about 1815 he married Mary Parsons, whose parents descended from some of the English who settled Georgia under Gen. Oglethorpe. I have a hand made pen-picture of them, made soon after they were married, which was before the days of modern photography. He had black hair and blue eyes and a profile strikingly like Napoleon Bonapart. She was tall, slender, brown hair and blue eyes. My sister, Addie, resembled her very much. They had a large family, of which my mother was next to the youngest. John C. was killed accidentally when he was about 45, his wife living to be 80 years old"

Sandra, my ancestors were also Scotch Presbyterians. This is very interesting, if only I could find the link between them. I need birth records and the like and also the fathers names. I have to leave for work in 20 minutes, frustrating!!!

Hi there.

Assuming the tree has the correct birthplace, I wonder if the South Carolina Historical Society might be able to tell you whether birth/baptism records might exist for 1804 and where they are held if there are any? Link below...there is an email address at the bottom of the page.

Looking at the last wills and testaments of John Anderson (14 June 1828) and John B Anderson (14 June 1835 - probate 26 Nov 1838) of Amite Mississippi - there were no clues to parentage.

It would appear John B Anderson was born in South Carolina 1783 -
