The Reverend Timothy Thomas was my 4th great-grandfather. He was born on 12th March 1720 in Ty-Hen, Caio, Carmarthenshire and died on 12th November 1768.
**
His first wife was said to be "native of Llanllwnni , who died within a year, and who bore him a daughter, who married Rees Saunders, Bryn, Llanllwnni, uncle of David Saunders."
**
His second wife (who was my 4th great-grandmother) was supposedly born in 1733 'of Aberduar." She presented Timothy with five sons and lived until 20th April 1822. "In 1753 a daughter of Williams of Trebŵl and grand-daughter of the family of Maes-isaf whither he went to live."
**
I'm hoping we can discover more about the lady who died 20th April 1822.
Thanks
Richard

There's a marriage in Pencarreg 14 July 1769 for Rees Sanders of Llanllwni & Hannah Thomas of Pencarreg, witnesses Zacharias Thomas & David Saunders, all signed.
The marriage bonds at NLW include one from Nov 14 1753 for Timothy Thomas of Pencarreg & Elinor Williams of Pencarreg. Register isn't online so can't check witnesses.

Thank you Osprey.
Did you mean 14 July 1769 (not 1869) for the marriage of Rees Saunders and Hannah Thomas?
**
The 14 November 1753 date would fit into our time frame.
If we could find a will for Rev. Timothy Thomas, it would certainly help our cause.

oops, I did indeed! :-[
I've checked the NLW & the wills on Ancestry with no success.

Thanks for trying.
The 20th April 1822 death date came from Robert Moseley Bryce Thomas with a question mark.
So it would have been Elinor Thomas dying on that date and I am guessing that she would still have been living in Carmarthenshire close to Pencarreg.

The name Elinor appears quite frequently in our Welsh Thomas family.

I want to revisit this topic, focusing on the two wives of Rev Timothy Thomas 1720-1768.
Timothy's second marriage was to the "daughter of Williams of Trebwl." We think this is Elinor but where can the official record be found? Was Trebwl a property in Carmarthenshire? Is it near or a part of Llanpumpsaint?
Timothy died in 1768 and we have 20th April 1822 as the date of Elinor's death. Why can't we find a death record? Did Eleanor remarry? Was she born in Llanlleoni (or similar name)? Where is that?
****
Timothy's first marriage was to "daughter of Llanllwnni" 1723-c1750. Who might that be if they married about 1743? We think a daughter, Hannah from this marriage married Rees Sanders. What happened to Hannah?

I have attached my family chart and hope I can update it with more info about Timothy's wives.

Those are great maps. Thank you Osprey.
Are they in the public domain and OK to copy?

I see some of the older (c1700) records have some words in Latin. Was that the case for most Church records about that time?
For example, I see a name Guilemi (or similar) which I am guessing would be William in modern day English.

yes, that would be William. You find more Latin the further back you go.
The maps come from this site - hours of fun!
