Hi
I am trying to find out who the Publican for the Seven Stars Inn, Timsbury, Somerset was in 1944. All I know is the surname was Bush.
Is there a website that tells you more about researching publicans after the 1911 census?
Thanks
Paula

Who are you looking for?
If you were given a name, how would you know if it was (in)correct?

Hi
I am looking for the full name of the publican whose surname was Bush. It is someone my mum once knew. He would have been there in 1944

Forename? (therefore Full name?) Family? Dates? 1939?
Male/Female?
Rough age?
Circumstances?

Hi
As I said I am looking for the full name of Mr Bush the Publican from the Seven Stars in Timsbury, Somerset and all I can tell you is he was definitely there in 1944.
That is why I asked if there was a website where I might find details of the publican at the time. Unfortunately the PubHistory site does not have details of the publicans in the pub in 1944.

"Mr" is a step forward.
Was he a "romantic connection"? "professional connection?"
Was he much older/ much younger?
What was his employment status? (Owner? Son of?)
What are the circumstances of the connection arising?
Related?

Is the pub still open? If so it might be worth contacting them to see if they have a list of the publicans.
Just seen they have a FaceBook page - might be worth putting something on there.

He was the publican as I mentioned. He was a romantic interest, not that that helps in looking for someone.
I am guessing, but not sure, which is why I am asking for suggestions of where I might look for info that he would have been between 30 - 40 years old
The connection, difficult to explain
Paula
Just seen the post about Facebook page. I will try that thank you, definitely worth a try

Could he still have been there as late as 1963?

Hi
If he was a "romantic" connection, his name is not remembered?
Why are we searching?
. . . . .

From newspaper 9th March 1939
"An application was made by Mr JB Taylor on behalf of Stanley Bush licensee of the Seven Stars Inn Timsbury"

I think D G Bush may have been too young as he was born 1930.
-
Think he was the son/relative of Stanley C and Ethel Bush around 1939

Groom - that has helped quite a lot. Thanks
Cathy that is very helpful too.
I think there were two to three generations of Bush's that ran the pub so it would make sense. Just a shame I do not have more information
Ray - romantic connection but as I said very difficult to explain.

Nor do you have to!

Paula, I'm not sure how useful this would be, or if possible, but have you checked electoral rolls and phone books? I think some might be online but it has been a long while since I looked anyone up so I might be mistaken.
Added: oops, so sorry groom - I see you beat me to it a few replies back. :-[

Did Publicans Licences have to be gazetted in UK?
If so, check your gazettes. Don't know if UK ones are online / on CD , etc, but worth checking ?

Hi all
Some info provided, via pm, regarding potential family members of licensee family.
As family are potentially alive then Rootschat rules apply.
Other Rootschatters may also have provided similar/(in)valid info.
