Struggling to read the name of this place of birth in England. Looks like it might begin with T, Thorndon perhaps?
-
What is the name, year of birth and mother's maiden name?
Jamjar
-
This is a death record. Of those details, the only I can give you for sure is the name: Annie Duncan. Year of birth is probably around 1841.
-
Yes, I know it was a death record, but if you have the name and mmn you could look it up on GRO and possibly narrow down possible birth area.

Only one around 1841:

Thank you.
-
Was Duncan her married name?, if so we need her maiden name.
-
Could it be London?
Isobel
-
Thurlow ? It would help to see more of the writing.
-
If the birth registration in Reply #4 is correct, Trimdon might be a possibility.
-
Thurlow?
Padstow?
Plaistow?
-
Yes, it's a bit of a head-scratcher. Unfortunately, the birth record suggested in Post #4 doesn't appear to be for the same Annie Duncan: the father's name and profession do not match those on the death record. Thank you for your suggestions.
-
You are not giving us all the information you have that might enable us to identify the birth place. What was the father's name and profession?
-
Annie's father—according to her death record—was George Duncan, a blacksmith.
-
There's a George Duncan, blacksmith, in Poplar, London in the 1851 census. Children include a daughter Ann aged 10.
-
Ann Duncan birth registered in Poplar in the December quarter of 1840 (Vol2 page 312) mmn Hutchison.
Banns read at St Mary's Whitechapel in July and August 1840 for George Duncan and Ann Hutchison. No trace of a marriage.
-
So Plaistow seems likely!
-
They are in Wade Street, Poplar in the 1841 census. George Duncan's occupation is "engineer".
