Title: Sunderland Union Workhouse 1843
Post by: Bagsyb1954 on Tuesday 24 April 18 09:50 BST (UK)
Does anyone know if there are any records remaining of inmates and births in the Sunderland Union Workhouse from the year 1843.
Have now obtained my Grt Grt Uncles birth cert registered by The Master of said Workhouse dated 18 May 1843

There is information about the Sunderland Workhouse here http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Sunderland/  including photographs and maps.

At the bottom of the page under 'Records' you can see what few documents remain relating to this Workhouse. They are held by Tyne & Wear Archives. https://twarchives.org.uk/collection/user-guides-and-information (scroll down to 'Other Topics' and click on 'Paupers' Records'.

Sadly there doesn't appear to be anything for the year you're interested in.
