Help I've hit a brick wall. Quintin Findlay was born in Glassenlen Wigtown in 1796, He married Jean Morrison in Barony larnarkshire in 1817. I cant seem to find any birth details for him therefore have no clue on parents or siblings. Any help would be amazing

Hi Mathilda
Welcome to Rootschat, even though you've been a member for a good while :)
A bit puzzled by Glassenlen as I don't see it listed. Would it be Glasserton, the parish? I did a quick check on the name but don't see any baptisms listed for him on the usual sites so...,
Do you have their children in date order, as it's sometimes possible to wok out parents names from the names given to children - for e.g. Husband's father's name is given to first born son, and wife's father to the second son. The opposite applies with female offspring.

I've tried searching on just Q* and F* in Scotland on the 1841 but only 3 come up - one in Ayrshire and wrong. The others have different surnames.
Is Quentin/Quentin a 'usual' Scots name?

Found him in Blackburn on the 1841
