Where was Fallside Station?
Old Brittish Newspapers 30/9/1898 : Body Found. -On Monday, the body of a man was found lying at the bottom of an old quarry adjoining Fallside Station, near Uddingston. It is supposed deceased had been taking a short cut through the fields, and had fallen into the quarry, which is about 90ft, deep. The body was removed to Uddingston Police Station where it has been identified as that of Robert Steel, belonging to New Logans Motherwell. Deceased had been in Glasgow on Saturday night with several companions, and having missed them, came by the train to Fallside, where he got out to walk the remainder of the journey, and met his death. He leaves a widow and nine children.

Fallside Station was to the east of Uddingston (South Lanarkshire) on the Clydesdale Section of the Caledonian Railway. Bothwell Park Quarry was in the immediate vicinity of the station.
On the OS map referenced (http://maps.nls.uk/view/75650919) locate the curling pond (coloured blue) east of Uddingston, follow the CR railway eastwards, and Fallside Station is about 1/2 mile east of the pond.

Thanks for that. The maps I was looking at didn't have the station marked. Just think he would have been easier getting the train to Motherwell.

" Just think he would have been easier getting the train to Motherwell."
The things we do when we have had one too many! Recall coming home from Glasgow last train getting on Motherwell via Hamilton instead of via Bellshill. Feeling worse for wear I got off at Blantyre and found myself stranded there. Why Robert got off at Fallside will remain a mystery. He could have been on an Edinburgh train which didn't go to Motherwell and thought he was getting off at Bellshill or Holytown.
