That's how I read it. :) spelt Deceast

in some of the family tree i have looked at on ancestry, they say that mary was born in barbados, but this is not certified.......looking at barbados history for the time period, i was wondering how she came to be there, if it is true. was hoping this marriage would give a clue

thank you, so as a mariner, john benson may have been in barbados at some time, i will try and follow this up..........thank you

I think it says something like:
William Andrew Mariner in Port Glasgow and Mary Benson Daug(hter) lawfull to the Deceast John Benson Mariner there, were book'd In order to proclamation for Marriage, and Gave in 2 Shillings to the poor.
(What's that all about?! ???)
