Hello everyone, i will try and load a marriage for Mary Benson and William Andrew. I cannot make alot of it out, especially what is written regarding Mary.........can someone please help?  Kind regards from Heather

in some of the family tree i have looked at on ancestry, they say that mary was born in barbados, but this is not certified.......looking at barbados history for the time period, i was wondering how she came to be there, if it is true.   was hoping this marriage would give a clue

I think it says something like:

William Andrew Mariner in Port Glasgow and Mary Benson Daug(hter) lawfull to the Deceast John Benson Mariner there, were book'd In order to proclamation for Marriage, and Gave in 2 Shillings to the poor.

(What's that all about?!  ???)
