Hi everyone,
Could someone please date this photograph for me ?
Thank you very much.

Just general fix

William Abernethy used a royal seal on his ' cardfooters' after 1900 - so definitely before then . . . . but how long before?
My guess is mid 1880s the trim on the suit being what I am judging by, and the collar.
Hope I am not too far off the mark. ;)

Thanks Wiggy. :)

I would agree with Wiggy.

Thank you. He looks fairly young in the photo but I think the lightness on his face is covering up his age. I'm trying to see where he fits in a family tree but not successful so far.

Also thank you Loord74. I was totally oblivious to your cleaning up the phot. Thank YOu !

Do we know who this gentleman was married to?
-
Abernethy looks to be advertising in Belfast newspapers from around late 1885.
Connected or otherwise, there was a David Abernethy with a haberdashery, drapery and tailoring establishment at 18 High Street in at least 1884, possibly also earlier/later (haven't checked other street directories).
-
http://www.shadesofthedeparted.com/search?q=Abernethy also indicates an 1885 start for William Abernethy and details how he came to receive the Royal Warrant in 1900.

Scotsmum's "1885" looking spot on.
Have checked the 1884 Belfast and Ulster Province Directory and an Abernethy not listed as a photographer.
The next Directory is dated 1887 which confirms William Abernethy at 29 High St.

Well done, Wiggy and Carol 8)
Note that this is a 5 year old post and was dated then.
Add - the new posting was concerning the possible marriage partner.

Can I second Gadget's "well done" - spot on
-
I'll look for a possible partner but not too good with Irish records.

Possible?

My grandmother I am showing as the daughter of a James Corbett and Ellen Martin. I think there’s some family resemblance, no?
She was born in 1891.
