In 1887, I've come across someone who lived at 2 Ducking Pond Mews, Mayfair.
Can't find it on modern maps and there is little info on the net.
Can anyone give me more information please.
(Must be worth a Fortune these days!)

1881 they appear in Christ Church Parish, Westminster
RG11/97 folio 41 page1

Some info here (says it no longer exists):

On the 1881 census Shepherds Market Centre Block follows on.

In Sporting Times 05 July 1884 there is an advert for Ducking Pond Mews, Shepherd Street, Mayfair.

Thanks All
Trying to compare modern maps, looks like, apart from some of the streets, the whole area has been redeveloped.

It appears to be close to Christ Church Vicarage
1901 - RG13/82 f56 p38

Centre of this map http://london1872.com/stanford19b.htm you can see Curzon Street (in the angle formed by the two parks)
Just south and running parallel is Hertford Street. Just east of that and running north-south is Ducking Pond Mews.

Thanks JenB - wonder when it was demolished? ???

Brief quotation, ' however a number of nearby streets including Ducking Pond Mews and Ducking Pond Row (now Grafton Street) refer to the popular sport of duck hunting, in which dogs were trained to catch ducks whose wings had been clipped and were compelled to dive underwater to avoid capture. This was apparently popular in Mayfair, and was presumably where the Dog and Duck got its name. '

I think Mayfair had more than one !
