Could sks please point me in the right direction for ordering a birth certificate for someone born St Helier, Jersey, in 1855.

eg who do I apply to, what information would they need and how much would it cost?

Jersey birth certificates cost £20 plus postage but you will find pretty much the same information on baptism records. Church of England baptism records for the date you want are on Ancestry.

Hi both

Dawn - many thanks for the links, I have sent an email to the Superintendent Registrar

la grande-methe - I have searched the records on Ancestry including the image only browser but my man is just doesn't want to be found, perhaps he wasn't baptised.  I appreciate you input though.

Many thanks to you both
