Title: Railway Worker Lookup: John Boles
Post by: Spearmint on Wednesday 21 February 18 12:00 GMT (UK)
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me find John Boles who worked at Stockport railway station between 1910-ish and 1941 when he returned to Ireland. Dates or any information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Spearmint

Many thanks, Emelton. John worked in a sewerage plant before joining the railways...

Haven't a clue what a Lurry Man does.

It's one of the occupational terms used in the 1921 census, online at http://doot.spub.co.uk/

It's found under driver, lorry at http://doot.spub.co.uk/code.php?value=719 - from which it appears that lurry is a northern English variant of lorry.

Yes, rolnora. I have thanks. Not got access to their site. What I was really interested in was his railway records. I wasn't very clear in my first posting. I wanted to know which company he worked for and any address he gave them.

Thanks for replying, Spearmint ☺

Wow, SGF28. Thanks so much. I had a look at L &NW site and there was nothing under his name.  Was there an address in Urmston, or Stockport?

Thanks, Spearmint

No address given on Trade Union Membership details.

Free search on 1939 Register gives John Boles address as 45 Gradwell Street, Stockport.
