Would I be right in thinking that 380 Rochdale Old Rd., Bury, is/was Fairfield Hospital?
Thanks, Eric.

380 Rochdale Old Road, Bury was the address of the Workhouse,
In 1904, the Registrar General decided that where a child was born in the workhouse, there need no longer be any indication of this on the birth certificate. Instead, the place of birth could be recorded as an ordinary street address, either a real one or a pseudonymous one invented for the purpose. From around 1920, the same practice was later also adopted for the death certificates of those who died in the workhouse. http://www.workhouses.org.uk/addresses/b.shtml
The site is now known as Fairfield hospital and most of the old workhouse blocks have been replaced by modern buildings.

Thought it would be.
Thanks for confirming it.

Where would burials of those who died in Fairfield Hospital be carried out. Did they have a particular cemetery or would the deceased be returned to their family to be buried.

Do you mean people who died there when it was a workhouse?
Welcome to RootsChat.
Added. Information about burials is in 2nd link about Bury workhouse in stanmapstone's reply. 1894 map shows burial ground which is believed to have been used until 1916. If an inmate died in the workhouse, next-of-kin, if known, was informed & invited to arrange a funeral. If this didn't happen, there was a "pauper's funeral" and burial in an unmarked grave.
