I'm looking into the history of my grandad's line. My grandfather, George Christopher Shudell, has a father named Christoper Shudell. He lived in England. He was a Merchant Marine. All i know on his death is that he passed away sometime between WWI and WWII; more specifically, between 1926-1939. I understand that he died coming back from Australia. I don't know much about my grandfather's family at all. I do know my granddad had a sister and brothers named: Jeanette, Jackie (male; not sure of spelling), Lee and Francis. Jackie was in the invasion of Normandy World War II

There are no Shudell births in England or Wales before 1949? According to FreeBMD, an transcription of the GRO Indexes.
But, there is a Christopher Shudel birth in 1901, Birkenhead Registration District.
Mother's maiden name was Doyle.
Did you mean England, or did you mean the UK?

Thank you sgf28, Hanesteulu and kGarad. i'm going to look into all of this information. What a great website this is. I"m glad i joined!
The one with the drowning victim in 1940 sounds like that could be him. Also kgarad: I think he may have been born in Ireland. My grandparents moved to England from Ireland in the 40's.
Thank you. I'm going to check into this information. If there's anything else you come across, i would be grateful for the info. i'll let you know what i find out.
