Title: William Henry Wells-married Eva Hannah Fry-lived in Wimborne
Post by: Rosemary C on Thursday 04 August 05 04:45 BST (UK)
I am looking for some history on William Henry Wells.  He was born in Bath, Somerset around 1851-3 because in the 1891 census he was 38.
The W.H. Wells I am looking for was married to Eva Hannah Fry in Wimborne Minster in 1885.  She was born 1866-7. We understood he was an orphan and would like info on his parentage but the marriage certificate showed his father,  as being alive.  The bridegrom was listed as a Pensioner, presumably from the Army.  He was in the Royal Artillery.  I cannot find any record of his birth in Bath around this time.
There are several more generations of William Henry Wells after this- we don't know how many there were before him.

We would also like info on Eva Hannah Fry/Wells. She was from a family in Sturminster Newton. Her mother was Hannah Fry ( nee ?) and her father John Thomas Fry from Shroton (Iwerne Courtney).

Do you still want to know about these families?

The 1861 census shows John and Hannah's eldest child as aged 13, so their marriage will be this one:

Dec 1845  Wimborne
John Fry
Hannah Seller

It may have been a double wedding as the other couple marrying were:
Joseph Seller
Mary Ann Gallop

1841 census HO107/289/7
Sturminster Marshall
Richard Seller, 40+, ag lab, Y
Elizabeth Seller, 45+, Y
Emily Seller, 15, Y
Anna Seller, 13, Y
William Seller, 11, Y
Ellen Seller, 9, Y
Francis Seller, 6, Y

None of the children was at home in 1851, but Eliza P Fry was visiting.
