Title: Looking for birth of Benjamin Sump(s)ter born circa 1768

Hi,

I am looking for the birth of my ancestor Benjamin Sump(s)ter who married Jane Benwell in 1793 in Old Basing.  I would very much appreciate any assistance in tracing this man in particular anyone who has access to Old Basing parish records which might show where he was born.

Is he in Yateley, Hampshire with wife Jane and in the 1841 census ?

Age in census : 70

In this census he states he is Not born in County, so possibly looking for a birth outside Hampshire.

Looking for the baptism and parents of this man who married Jane Benwell in Old Basing in 1793. I have not been able to find his baptism there. There is a reference on Find My Past with an 1841 Census to this area, but I know that this Census only shows where he was living and not where he was born and he died in 1843. Any ideas please !

You have posted on the Surrey board but I can't find an 1841 entry in Surrey. There is an identical match living in Yateley in 1841 but shown as not born in county - is that the one you mean?

Yes, I think that this is the man but he does not appear to be born in Hampshire, where he was married and I hav been looking in Berkshire and Surrey as possible Counties of birth, without successKind Regards

FamilySearch tree,  MVSB-2CC,  shows his parents as Ben Sumter and Elizabeth. ​

Not Ancestry, FamilySearch.

Benjamin Sumpster  b1764.  parents Ben Sumter and Elizabeth.

Ben Sumter. baptised 17 FEB 1738. Shinfield,Berkshire.   Died 1765.
