I was wondering if anyone could help me as I search for more details on my 4x Great Grandfather John Leech b. 1785 Clotton, Cheshire d. 5 January 1844 Pen y bryn, Castle Caereinion, Montgomeryshire.
As I am not in the UK, it makes physically going to parishes etc impossible.
I believe he married an unknown woman in 1837 and had a son, Richard, born in 1842.
He later married a Sarah Ellis but I'm not sure when and she died in 1847.
I believe John and Sarah are both buried at Pen y bryn Castle Caereinion Churchyard when they died.
I would be curious to find out who his first wife was (Richard's Mother) and any further information into his family (parents, baptisims etc.)
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Cheers,
Stacey

Check your request for dates, if John Leech died 1844 he could not have married/remarried in 1847

Thank you amondg!
I thought I'd edited that part already. Apologies!
-
Hi Stacey - do you have any idea where Richard was born?
-
The only Richard Leech registered 1842 was in Ellesmere Union (Shropshire) the mothers maiden name Dodd.
-
Montgomeryshire death registrations
John Leech 1844 was age 60 giving a birth date circa 1784
Sarah Leech died 1847 was age 64 giving a birth date circa 1783
Where did you find them in 1841 census, because the John Leech of Clotton Cheshire is still alive and still in Cheshire 1851 with wife Sarah

Hi Stacey,
As amondg stated John Leech of Clotton Cheshire is still alive and still in Cheshire 1851 with wife Sarah so not your John.
I presume you mean 1812 not 1842 from this you posted?
I believe he married an unknown woman in 1837 and had a son, Richard, born in 1842***.
He later married a Sarah Ellis but I'm not sure when and she died in 1847

SARAH Ellis christened 1 November 1783, St. Oswald, Malpas, Cheshire
Parents ROBERT/AMBILA

'Clotton' is Clotton Hoofield which came under the parish of Tarvin.
John Leech bp.29/6/1788 Tarvin, son of William and Sarah of Hoofield.
So, as explained, the 'Clotton' John Leech is not the John who married Sarah Ellis and went to Montgomeryshire.

Wow. What a response! :D
Thank you all so much. I'll have to go back over my census records in the next few days and see where and when things got a little mixed up.
Thank you again!
