My G grandmother, Emily G Clarke, died on 15th Jan 1938 at Horsley Woodhouse, the address given is Willow Grove, which I haven't been able to find.
However what I'd really like to find is her burial. The death notice in the Ripley and Heanor News doesn't give any details, I don't think St Susanna's has a churchyard, and she is not buried in Belper Cemetery, what are the other possibilities locally?

This was from a random person death notice in 1943:
'Service at Horsley Woodhouse Parish Church at p.m. Interment at 3. p.m. at Horsley'
so implication that there is a cemetery in Horsley.
Added:
St Clements

Thanks, it's useful to know that, if the service was at St Susanna's Horsley Woodhouse, there's a possibility that the burial could have been at St Clement's, Horsley.
I'll try the Parish Office, it looks like the same office covers both churches.

Images are available on Ancestry for Horsley burials - no church name specified - but there is no sign of Emily in the records.

Thanks for looking! - I'll see what the Parish Office have to say, hopefully there will have been a service at St Susanna's...
I've just done a quick search for death notices and see that there is one at Horsley Woodhouse in September 1938 which states that the burial will be at Horsley Woodhouse Church - so it looks like there were burials there after all...

Hi
There is a death in 1939 of Eleanor Cadman, dau of Dr & Mrs Cadman, of Willow Grove Horsley Woodhouse. using this Surname and Horsley wood in 1939 register is interesting.
Suggest this was possibly a small nursing home.

I think that's probably right - a search of the British Newspaper Archive turns up several deaths recorded at Willow Grove, Horsley Woodhouse.

Thought I'd post the resolution.
The St Susanna's Church PCC Secretary kindly looked up the burial records and found that Emily was buried at St Susanna, Horsley Woodhouse on Jan 20th 1938.
He tells me that the plot records are rather incomplete but has offered to help me find the grave when I visit.

Always good to get a result :)

the address given is Willow Grove, which I haven't been able to find.
I suggest Willow Grove was the name of the house. The house I am going to mention was known as Doctor Cadmans many years ago. If you go on Google Maps, search for 110 Main Street, Horsley Woodhoue. Once found, go onto street view and find the (large) house, there is a white van emerging from the driveway. To the left of the van is the name Willow Grove embedded in the wall.

Ooh, thanks for that! Ties in very nicely.
Just as a final update, I was able to visit the grave which had been identified for me by the PCC secretary. The memorial stone was quite large compared to the others in the cemetery and just inscribed MOTHER, with the date of death. Quite odd!
