Thanks Annie,
I sent an email to mfa.org 2 days ago as Ashmolean contact said that he was taking up a post there.
That could be the right William, job description perfect, birth out by 2 yrs (might be pretending to be older), info I have says he went in 1927, but he could have returned to blighty and gone again in 1929.
Will check BMD again & get back,
Thanks again,
Cedric the hopeful...

Subject was definitely William J
He started the research laboratory in 1928, made Head & served them for 49 yrs, reached Emeritus status in 1976, he married one of his associates, Florence Whitmore (believed to be 2nd wife)in 1981.
Has anyone contacts that can access the 1930 census USA
For Suffolk county, Mass. to maybe find 1st wife & family.
William J Young born about 1906 Oxford, England
I believe it's on the Ancestry site,
Cedric.

Yep,
Claude Ortega kindly emailed me the complete sheet, are there any more of the Neale family on the previous sheet?
Regards,
Cedric.
-
Hi Cedric
If you want the Neale family - post what you need OK?
Annie
-
Looks like Neale family were split in two, jointly owning the house, I just wondered if there were any more on the enumerators previous sheet...
Cheers,
Cedric.
-
You can't see sheets in order you have to look up names!!
Annie :-\
-
Okey Dokey Anne,
Thanks for all your help,
Cedric.
-
Cedric, I believe you have rec'd the image for page 23 which starts with dau Phyliss Neale includes your William J. Young as "Lodger" and continues on with family of Charles Neale, ending with his mother in law, Elizabeth Lowry...correct?
The previous page 22, at bottom,
Walter F. Neale 40 b. Eng F/M: England Immigrated 1900, Profession: Meat Cutter at Market
Wife Francis 44 b. No. Ire, F/M: No. Ire Immigrated 1896
dau Dorothy 13 b. MA
They are living on Rosemary Street.
Per the enumerator's notes, it would seem the house is equally owned by Walter and Charles Neale, inhabited by their respective families and that your William Young is a boarder there.
Hope this is what you needed.

Yes Kathy, that's exactly what I was after,
Many thanks for taking the trouble,

If it's helpful at all, I knew Bill Young; his 2nd wife, Florence, was always close to our family. She was my mother's closest friend at college and for many years after.
