Hi Folks looking for mother of
William Turner (b) 1895 Blyth Northumberland
He had a sister Annie Turner (b) 1892 Blyth
Just cant find the mothers name though
Father was John Turner (b) 1844 Sacriston, Durham.
-
Have you tried using the GRO indexes, they should give you a mothers maiden name for these two births :-\
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp
Does the census give a first name for the mother
-
Is John the 57 yr old blacksmith born Sacriston, in Edward St, Craghead in 1901?
Wife is Susan, 62 b Longbenton, Northumberland.
With them is Annie Turner, 9 b Blyth "A. Daught." - likely to mean adopted daughter?
No William in the household.
1901: RG13/4674/28/6
-
I'd have thought if Susan is 62 in the 1901 Census, then William is probably also adopted! I've found a family in 1871 in Ryehope, which seems to be that of John with a first wife, Mary, and children including a son William born about 1865.

Yes that's the correct John Susan Annie on the census 1901 then John William Annie on the 1911 Census as Susan died 1909
I knew Susan was down as mother for Annie but couldn't figure out the William link
so adopted bythe looks of it ?

That William is My GGF thanks hes also a mystery as the bugger disappears after 1901 Census :D
but that's another story

There is a family tree which gives Williams wife as Margaret Elizabeth JOHNSON born 1 Jun 1890. Is that correct? If so then William's birth name may be BELL. The 1939 Register index has them at Stanley UD and William as:
William Bell (Turner) 1895 Stanley U.D. Durham
You can work out his month of birth as being March.

Yes that's the correct William Debra
so he was born William Bell ?
But on 1911 Census it has William born in Blyth ????
Ahhh ok Stanley was the district he was living in 1939 ?
-
so I should now be looking for a William Bell (b) 1895

Cool Thanks Debra so that's looking like Annie Turner
Wonder why Annie is on 1901 Census but not William If they were brother and sister then ?
Why adopt one then another later ? very strange
-
If they were siblings then they may have been related to John TURNER or one of his wives in some way. You would need to get the birth cert to see if the birth date matches and to see how his parents are named.
Debra :)
