Hi Jenny
The Surrey Burial Index definitely has a Henry Roberts buried in Leatherhead in 1841, aged 37. Unfortunately it only gives the year, not the actual date.
Found then in 1841 census:
HO107/1070/12 page 26
Leatherhead Common
Henry Roberts, 37, Bricklayer
Martha, 36
Ann, 15
George, 15
John, 13
Martha, 11
Elizabeth, 8
Caroline, 5
Henry, 1
Also living with them were :
John Roberts, 70, Bricklayer
Ann Roberts, 80
Assume these were Henry's parents?
NB there was a John Roberts buried in Leatherhead in 1843, aged 75 (bear in mind that ages were supposedly rounded down in the 1841 census to the nearest multiple of 5 years, so John could have been anywhere between 70 and 74.). No entry for Ann.
As regards Ayres I found the following:
William, 45
William, 15
David, 5
and living elsewhere in Leatherhead:
Charles, 15
Also found Hannah Ayres buried in Leatherhead on 16th Feb 1840, aged 40.
This doesn't tie in with William born 1777 in Oxfordshire as it is stated "born in county (ie Surrey), and indicates a d.o.b of around 1791-1796, but some of the children and their ages do fit in.
Anyway, hope this helps!!
Best wishes
Stuart

Absolutely fantastic Stuart. Thank you ever so much.
The Roberts are definitely mine. I'll check the Ayres with a bit more detail but on cursory glance they look good with a few anomolies.
I can't thank you enough for your help.
;D ;D ;D ;D

Had a look at the Ayres and they seem to fit except for the father. I wonder if the William Ayres (b1777 in Oxford) I have in the 1851 census with William b abt 1823 is actually the grandfather and the one in the 1841 is the father who dies or moves on before 1851... Will need further thought.
Thanks again.
Jenny.
