Title: Abbreviation ORF in the 1939 Register
Post by: NoodlesRS on Monday 06 November 17 10:23 GMT (UK)
I found the abbreviation ORF[space] M with what looks like 'Price[but could be Prur?] to 21.10.49 as a blue ink amendment on a female ancestors page in the Register.  There was a score through of her surname and another written over (which is not queried) but need to know what the ink amendment means. Any clues?

Any amendment on a female name usually means that the lady later married around the date given.
The register was updated until 1991.

Finally have it sorted, the words are Prior to 21.10.49 and ORF is the area code for Brieley Hill, Staffs whilst in 1939 she was in QHA -Dudley.  They married in the 3rd quarter of 1949 in Dudley.   The M must simply stand for married.
