Where do you fit into his family - What information do you know so we do not repeat what is in your possession?
Added:
OK, read your other posts, Snow was your grandfather.
-
Also this has been posted by someone in 2009 on rootschat:
'But have you any details of my Father Snow Blagburn Tallantyre and my uncle William Vivian Shannan who both worked at the Gas Light & Coke Company and took out patents on their behalf.'
Any idea if William was Irish, and is he Snow's sister's husband, or Snow's wife's brother or brother-in-law?
Added:
WVS born 1891 Paddington,
William V Shannan married Ruby J Tallantyre in September quarter 1918 Hampstead.
-
Is this the 'Chamber' part, or just co-incidence?
Marriage December quarter 1913
Margaret D Chambers to William G Tallintire in Middlesbro.

Have a look at the Tallentire / Tallantyre Genealogy Page:

My grandfather was Snow Blagburn Tallantyre. He was a chemist and inventor. Born 1980 Died 1954 I believe. Lived in London, and was a member of the royal society of Chemists. It seems he had two families. Two sets of children. Many skeletons.
-
Which wife was the 'official' wife? Lavinia?
Which family do you know about?
Lavinia and Snow both died in 1954 (both with administration to Florence Ada Godwin Hammack). Have you the wills for more information?
-
Snow Blagburn Tallantyre (son of Snow Blagburn Tallantyre) and Lavinia Eleanor Jones (daughter of Frederick Jones) were married 17 April 1915 at Liscard St Mary (Cheshire). Birth registrations of children all give mother's maiden name as Lambard.
-
Snow had four children with Leonora Rosita Tallantyre. Her father, Joseph Lambert (possibly Lambard) was possibly from Guiana or Jamaica. Snow left everything in his will to Leonora, but he didn't sign the will so everything went to his wife's sister, as his wife died the same year as he did. I did see the will many years ago. I'm not sure his wife knew of Leonora and her four children - all fathered by Snow. Did Snow have children with his wife?
-
Do any of you know where all 3 of them (+ any children) are in 1939?
It does say in the notes 'Administration (with will)' for Snow. Would that have been put if the will was not signed?
Snow and Lavinia both have the same address in Birmingham on the probates.
Added:
Snow and Lavinia Tallentyre (+ 1 other person) are in Birmingham in 1939.
-
Snow had four children with Leonora, not Lavinia.
Terence
John
Elvera Denise was definitely Snow and Leonora's daughter, not Lavinia's!
Peter
Leonora was living in Birmingham at that time. She was black/Biracial Father possibly Jamaican or Guiyana.
Did Snow also have 3 children with Lavinia? Are you related to Lavinia?
Did he have 3 children with Lavinia? Do you have names?
-
Snow and Leonora lived separately in Birmingham I think, probably because he was still married to Lavinia. His four children with Leonora were all born and lived in Birmingham at that time. I believe there are two surviving brothers, one in Wales and the other in Manchester or Cheshire. 100% Elvera Denise was not Lavinia's daughter!
-
Who was the other person living with Snow and Lavinia?
-
GRO Birth Index shows only 4 Tallantyres with mother's maiden name Lambard, none with mother's maiden name Jones
-
Possibly her sister.
-
Joseph Benjamin Lambert had a number of children with Jessie Drewett. Don't think they were married. Jesse later went on to have other children with Harry Corbett, of Webb and Corbett
Leonora Rosita Tallantyre, ( Joseph and Jesse's daughter) formerly Drewett or lambert, had 4 children with Snow Blagburn Tallantyre. Don't think they ever married as Snow was married already, possibly to Lavinia Jones.
I remember meeting Snow when I was a child.

I do not have full access to the 1939 register, so I do not know who else was living with Snow and Lavinia.
On the 1933 Kelly's Directory of Birmingham Snow Tallantyre is living at 9 Vernon Road, and Snow Blackburn Tallantyre is at 39, St Paul's road, Smethwick.
On the 1950 ER Snow and Lavinia are at 9 Vernon Road.
Could you explain what you want to know about William Vivien Shannon/Chamber?
Have you considered getting Snow's will?
-
I would like to know who these people are. I have only just come across them, never having heard of them before. Trying to find out more about Snow basically. Is there anyone alive who knew him? Do I have any family related to him? Iv'e heard a couple of stories about him, but nothing much. I would like to see some photo's of him. and his family. So many skeletons in the cupboard because I think they were not married with 4 children. Absolutely nobody talked about him.

Jessie Drewett or Druett was born 1879 in Harborne, Staffs (later Warwickshire, then part of Birmingham), the daughter of Charles Drewett and Mildred Taverner. She is in the 1881 census as Jessey Drewett age 2, with her parents, and in the 1901 census as Jessie Drewett age 21, living with her married sister Clara and family. In the 1911 census she appears as Jessie Davenport, age 28, living with her married sister Emily and family, along with her own children, including Nora Lambert age 7 born Wall Heath and Marjorie Davenport age 4, born Smethwick.
'Nora' was born 16 Jun 1903 and baptised 28 Jan 1904 at Kingswinford Parish Church as Elenora Rosina Lambert, the daughter of Joseph Benjamin Lambert and Jessie. Her birth was registered in Stourbridge SepQ 1903 as Eleanora Rosina Lambert (mother nee Drewett). Marjorie was registered in Kings Norton DecQ 1906 as Marjorie Vere Lambert (mother nee Drewett).
I don't know whether 'Nora' continued to use the surname Tallantyre before/after Snow's death in 1954, but the GRO Death Index includes a NE Cheshire entry in JunQ 1964 for 'Norah Tallantyre' aged 58 yrs, which I am unable to account for otherwise.
Hope this helps.

This is brilliant, and info I didn't know. I have not heard of Emily. I do know that Nora's eldest son Terence moved from Birmingham to Manchester around 1949/50 Nora moved there a few years later, and her other children went with her. Later she moved to Cheadle in Cheshire. She eventually moved in with her daughter who also lived in Chealdle. She did in fact keep the name Tallantyre until she died, but I am convinced, because Snow's daughter in law told me, she never married Snow, she just took his name. All of her children were were given the name Tallantyre. Harry was a Lambert, and so was Marjory, even though she was given the name Davenport. Denny the youngest child was definitely a Davenport. I heard that when Jesse married a Davenport Nora was sent to live with her aunt Bunny because she wasn't accepted by her step father. Thanks for the info. Can I ask if you are a Tallantyre?
-
No - just interested in the surname (Tallentire, Tallantyre, Talintyre etc), its origins and development.
-
Do you know if Snow has any surviving relatives other than his and Nora's children?
Terence, Nora and Snow's eldest son had four children with his wife, but also had another son who was born somewhere in Manchester. Do you know anything about him? I would very much like to trace him.
