Can anyone help with passing on the details of a death notice that was published (according to Ryerson Index) in Sydney Morning Herald on 16JUN1990.
Please PM and I'll give details.
Many thanks

Hi Maggsie
Thank you, but the link takes me to 1930, not 1990!
Not to worry though, I managed to find the info I wanted w/o spending $15 for a day’s sub to the paper. Pity it’s so expensive 🙁

When I first did it I saw the 1990 date.

Glad you got your info.

That's a rather expensive one-off notice! There are other ways. You could ask the Ryerson Index, or some of us could scan for you when we visit a library.

Oh I'm so sorry I didn't see this post earlier. If you are an Australian resident you can get a Library card for the National Library which allows you access to many newspapers (amongst other things) including the SMH Archive 1955-1995. This is the link for a library card:

Modified to add: Oh I see you are in Wiltshire, so probably not an Australian resident! ;) If you need any other lookups, I'm happy to help.

SMH lookups via Ryerson are only available for selected years (depending on what various volunteers can do).
For notices from ANY Australian paper re info found on Ryerson, best advice is to use the Ask a Librarian (sometimes called Ask Us) of the relevant State Library in Australia.
Capital city papers are usually held at all the SL and you don't have to be an Australian resident to use these services.

Hi
I noticed the other day that Ancestry has
"Australia, Newspaper Vital Notices, 1841-2001"
With a bit of a fiddle you can access the SMH and the Age. The SMH goes up to Feb 2002. I have found that the Notices are not all indexed, however if you know the date of the newspaper you are after, ( by using Ryerson ) you can find the notice .
Just like the old days, when you visited the library and put the microfilm in the reader and rolled thru the various issues of the newspaper until you found the date you where after and then looked for the Death / Funeral Notices.

Thank you very much - found what I'm looking for.
Now, what about wills, are there any indexes on line for them?
Thanks again
