Post by: Headgirl on Wednesday 18 October 17 15:15 BST (UK)
Hi
On a birth certificate the mothers name is written as "Leonora Bond late Harcourt formerly Nevins"
Can anyone explain what this means please as Im unsure? More than 1 marriage?

Thanks x

Married twice or at least had 2 partners.

My gran's birth certificate shows her mother as late (her previous married name), formerly (her maiden name).  However, although my gran's mother was married once, she never married my gran's father but took his name anyway.

I would interpret that as maiden-name = Nevins, first husband = Harcourt (now dead), present husband (presumably father of child) = Bond.
