Could someone please check the 1851 census for Breconshire for Margaret Thomas born 1843 at Llyswen for family details eg father, mother and any siblings.
Thank you

Hi again Rhys
On the 1881 census her birth place is Llyswew - I assumed this was a mis-spelling as I have come across so many in researching the Welsh side of the family. Llyswen is just down the road from Gwenndwr where her husband James Griffiths lived so I assumed she must have been born there. Does this help. Once again many thanks for your trouble. :)

Hi Lynn
In 1871 Margaret states her age as 24. place of birth
Breconshire.
There is no Margaret  born between 1840 and 1850
at Llyswen on the 51 or 61 Brecs census,

Do not see any possibility of progress without her father`s name .

Thanks for your trouble. I had assumed that Llyswew on the 1881 census was a misspelling of Llyswen but it may be the paish of Llywel. Could you please try the 1881 census for there.

Hi Lynn
I have had a look at the original image for 1881
and the place if birth is definitely LLYSWEN.

Hi - have just spotted this thread and am interested because I am currently following a lead which includes an Eleanor Griffiths born 1874 who is  a daughter of Margaret Griffiths born 1843 in "Llyswew" and James born 1844 in "Gwendowr" in the 1881 census.
I am following the Eleanor line back to the present day, especially if she had a daughter called Doris born 1900/01 and later had some Birminghman connections.
If anyone recognises this info and can help would be pleased.

James was my gt grandfather. His daughter Lizzie was my gt aunt and lived with us when I was a child. My gran Ruth lived to be 91 and Lizzie 98. They spoke with affection of their sister Nell or Eleanor but I never met her nor do I know where she lived or any family details.
