Title: Research at Mitchell library
Post by: shaigh on Sunday 08 October 17 02:23 BST (UK)
Does anyone have a reliable research contact for looking up  specific requests at the Mitchell? I am looking for death/burial of a James Russell 1837 - 1838 at Neilston possibly only recorded in Parish Records and also Poor Law Relief records following this death by wife Janet Russell/Kirkland. Could have been in Carmunnock, Neilston or Eaglesham.  I have looked on research sies but they mostly only quote for a full tree which I do not want.

Shaigh,
Are you perhaps looking for records at the Mitchell Library, in Glasgow, Scotland?
as far as I know New Zealand doesn't have a Mitchell Library.

Hi Shaigh,

Usually in the past I have emailed them, they have been helpful, there is always a cost before they will post the information, if it is available.

Perhaps this would be better placed on the Scotland Board, where the folks there would be able to help you further.

Cheers
KHP

The burial records for Neilston at that time have survived and are available at Scotland's People. There is one burial of a James Russell, on 3 March 1836 in Neilston.
