As far as I am aware the image posted here is the only extant image of Christ Church, Carlisle which was demolished in c1952. Can anyone get rid of the flare and bring out some of the detail. Local Studies Library does not have an image so I would like to give them a copy of any improved picture. Many Thanks.

Not very good but had a go:

There's an image (not photo) on Pinterest http://tinyurl.com/y9zdkndf

Clean up and a bit of reconstruction but not much detail, unfortunately.

I checked via Google and there are better quality photos than this one out there:

That's in Silloth, not Carlisle :-\
Christ a Church Carlisle was on Botchergate, it was demolished in the 1950's. The church in your link is still in existence.

Sorry, my mistake. I've removed the link.

The second link you gave is in Maryport ;D

Thanks Jen, I'll leave links to 'other references' to people who are less sloppy with them than I am ;)

Many thanks to Loord, Japeflakes, Geoff, Mike and JenB for all you efforts. In the same batch of photos that I purchased there are a couple of much clearer view but these are the "back end" of the church showing the "east" window which actually faces west.
It was the only church in Carlisle not to have a dedicated postcard, probably because it was so blackened from the smoke of steam trains on the nearby railway.
Anyone who wants to take a copy of the improved images has my permission to do so or if they want a photo of the rear of the church for family history purposes, just PM me.
I can also supply FOC, images of most Cumbrian CoE churches either 100-year-old or modern.
