Hello everyone :D
I am in the process of trying to decipher my partner's auntie's family tree. Her maternal line were Warners from Suffolk.
I have come across an Ada Sophia Warner who is the illegitimate daughter of Sophia Warner. Ada was born in 1869 in Camberwell, London. On the 1871 census they were both living in Lambeth, London. I was wondering if it was possible to find out who Ada's father was. I believe Ada went on to marry Samuel Henry Mann and have a son named Oswald.
Any help on finding Ada's father would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Carrie ;D ???

Not often but sometimes the birth certificate might have the father listed. You can order a copy and cross your fingers.

Did Sophia marry soon afterwards? If she did it may have been to the father.
The marriage for Ada Sophia may give a fathers name but if she didn't know who he was and made a name up hard to prove who he really was. Only Sophia will know for sure.

I see Sophia was 40 and in 1871 and Ada Sophia is 1. I was expecting to see a much younger mother.

Looks like Ada is in the North Surrrey District School for workhouse children in 1881, while Sophia is visiting in Mellis.
