Title: John Haldane - Scot's Guards
Post by: Morannes on Monday 18 September 17 13:19 BST (UK)
Hello - can anyone please point me in the right direction to find out more about John Lavine Haldane b 1902 in Edmonton, Middx.  I am trying to research him for a friend who would like to know more about his military career.  The only information we have is what she recalls him saying - he guarded the Prince of Wales (Edward) at Windsor Castle - date not known.  He was in China when she was born in 1926.  Not much to go on I know so any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Sue

FindMyPast has a brief record for John Lavin Haldane 2960652 Scots Guards. Attested in March 1922, discharged in March 1934.

His army file will still be with the MoD and can be applied for on payment of a £30 fee.

ShaunJ is absolutely correct but it may be quicker to apply direct to the Scots Guards who, in common with the other Guards regiments, kept their own records, same application process and same fee. Details here http://scotsguards.org/history/archives/
