Title: Death Record abbreviations
Post by: IanBInOz on Friday 15 September 17 07:35 BST (UK)
Hello fellow ancestor chasers.  I am looking at the 1898 death and burial record for St Pancras Parish Chapel.  My ancestor's record differs from most of the others:

Residence is shown as UCH which I think is probably University College Hospital; overwritten in this field are "Stanley B(something) Pancras Rd" Which I am guessing as his actual address before dying in the hospital.
But the one that stumps me is the District, Parish field which on his line is "Ch Ch ST"

any ideas ?

Hi there, it would have been Stanley Buildings which were flats/apartments built in the mid 1860s to accommodate workers at nearby Kings Cross railway station.  Not sure about the Ch Ch ST I'm afraid.

The parish is Christ Church, Somers Town.

Though recorded in the parish register for St Pancras, your ancestor will not have been buried there at that date, but probably at St Pancras Cemetery in East Finchley.

The cemetery's own burial register is at DeceasedOnline, if you want to check.
