This one was the best of the series so far, in my opinion.
I really enjoyed the laughs around him thinking he was Trinidadian, but that every branch of his family seemed to lead him elsewhere in the Caribbean.
He was lucky I think to have an ancestor named Glasgow, which narrowed his search somewhat. And all these relatives he had, popping up everwhere when he'd had a childhood where it had basically just been him and his mum. My eyes were a bit damp at that.
I found him really eloquent and sincere, and the end where the music that had been passed through his lineage was sung in the present day was especially moving.
A really memorable episode for me.

I too thoroughly enjoyed it. A very fun loving person, and he came over most sincere. Anna

Interesting programme ..... but I have no idea who he is !

I know him as Mickey from Doctor Who, and apparently he was in Auf Weidersehen, Pet back in the day!
You know what I liked as well, that they went round to his mum's flat and she didn't live in a fancy country cottage like many of the celeb's parents seem to do! It was nice and ordinary and very down to earth.

This has been my favourite of the series.
He may not have been able to get back any further than the 1820's but he didn't need it -listening to and knowing that music had been sung and danced to by generations and generations of his family was incredibly moving.
-
I enjoyed this one too. It resonated with my own research, as my dad isn't interested in family history and won't tell me anything, so I have to find out for myself, very much like Noel tracing his dad's line.
I wish my relatives came from some far-flung country - the furthest my lot travelled was from Stoke to Rugby!!

I agree with the sentiments posted so far. This was my favourite episode of this series. Noel Clarke met each story of adversity in his family history with such an open heart. Very compelling viewing.

Like many of you, I had no idea who he was, so with many of these "celebrities" I google them, and they are nearly always on there. Anna

Love to know who wasn't!

Immensely moving. I was in tears.
He's a very good actor and director. All credit to his lovely Mum who evidently cared and brought him up really well.

I really enjoyed this episode too, he came across as being very genuine, one of the best episodes of the series. I had never heard of him before either.

It has worked for them all so far! Anna

Like many others I'd no idea who he was, but found it interesting that although it seemed he'd no real links or linking for his biological father, he seemed most moved by the history of that side. It'd have been rather interesting if they'd done the usual "tailpiece" they so often do, and shown him sharing his findings with his mother ..... she might have had a thing or two to say about the father? Another good one in this series.

I watched the documentary about Noel Clarke...and it seems that we may have some connections with Robert Glasgow (Sir) - a slaver from Scotland in St. Vincent (and the Grenadines).
-
The 2 moments I liked the best were:
(i)
When Noel found out he was sitting on a piece of land his 4 times great grandfather Glasgow bought when he became a free man in 1844.
(ii)
And when he met distant cousins who were also descended descended from Glasgow.

I missed the Noel Clarke episode.
Which TV station and Day and time please.
I can then set my Box to record remaining episodes of series.
