Right Click on AMD High Definition Audio Device   then Update Driver

Hi I had already tried that but was told "There is a problem with the driver for Realtek High Definition Audio. Re installing driver might fix the problem"

Go back into Device manager and highlight the Realtek High Definition Audio. Then delete it. Turn off the computer completely and then restart it. Windows should now reinstall the drivers. Try that.

Did that then clicked on Audio bottom of screen with red cross. Followed instructions to create fix and thankfully sound back on ;D I wonder if Windows Updates created this problem?? Thanks for the help much appreciated.

This has just happened to me (again, although I can`t find my previous post).

Annoyingly my granddaughter was here this afternoon and would have done it for me if  I`d discovered the problem earlier !!

The battery on my laptop failed even though it`s plugged into the mains, issue with the extension, but sorted that !!

I followed Midase`s instructions as far as click realtek high definition audio. A dialog box pops up saying uninstall device, but above the the words uninstall there`s a check box next to delete driver software for this device. Do I do both ?

Hello BillyF
All you need do is click the Uninstall option. Then reboot and Windows will reinstall for you.

Thanks !! You`ve helped me before, but I couldn`t find it !!

I toohad the red cross at the bottom and it said it was checking for problems, then said wizard couldn`t finish it. "But" it`s fine.

Thanks again.
