Title: 1939 register for family member
Post by: Nickb on Wednesday 30 August 17 16:03 BST (UK)
Could some kind soul please look up a family member in the 1939 register for me.

I am looking for James Wright born 1912 in Hull.

The index states that Rhoda Greenwood (Wright) and 2 others are in the household.

Rhoda I think remarried to Dennis Greenwood in 1944 after James had been killed in 1943.

I would be interested in the details it may contain if possible.

many thanks for any help

Nick

Very sorry, RootsChat policy, we are not allowed to do look-ups for the 1939 Register or 1911 census.

Added:  best idea would be to see if your library has access to FindMyPast.

The index states that the household contains James Wright (1912), Rhoda Wright/Greenwood, plus 2 others.

Yorkshirebmd has a marriage for Rhoda Wright to Dennis Greenwood 1944 at St Augustine in Hull, the parish register for this church is on fiche at the Treasure House (archives) in Beverley.

Sorry wasn't aware of this policy. It's been a while.

Thanks Bee for the information.

If you are looking for Rhoda's maiden name & any children born to the couple you can look on freebmd.org for marriages from [say] 1922 - 1939 then for Wright children born with that mother's maiden name from date of marriage to 1939. If they stayed in the same area then there is a possible marriage in Sculcoates in 1934 with a possible female birth in Hull in 1937. However this doesn't account for there being 2 others in the household.

It is correct that there are two other members in the household, but one of them has a different surname.  ;)

As an aside...I had unrelated persons appearing with my family on one sheet but it turned out that they belonged to the family on the next entry...I can't remember the explanation but it's something to do with the way the registers were formatted.
