Please can anyone help me trace my 6x great grandparents.
I am looking for the parents of Alice Easton who married Charles Gill on 4 October 1755 at St Saviours, Southwark, London. Charles was a Thames Waterman. I am guessing Alice was born around 1735 and I have looked for her baptism under every variation of Easton I can think of including Eastone, Eston, Aston, Esson with no joy.
The waterman and Lightermen Binding Records show an Alice Easton binding apprentices in Rotherhithe at about this time so I assume this second Alice is my Alice’s mother which suggests her father was also a waterman.
thanks
Carolyn

Thank you so much -it is amazing what a fresh pair of eyes can find. The binding records for watermen show an Alice Easton as master for Edward and Richard which would tie in.

Hi Carolyn
My name is James Easton ...I have been researching my family for a number of years since getting such a great start from my cousin...we are back to the same period as you and in the same area . The period that starts to get a little grey is from my Thomas Easton bapt. 1732/33 at St Clements Danes parents Richard and Anne .....then I have Richard Eaton married Anne Bywater 1731 st Clements Danes and George Eason is believed to be Richards father . ( they were all Paruke makers and the parish for them were St Clements Danes) . So according to a geologist I commissioned ,he felt as comfortable as could be , that this was my tree. I have in the 18 th century a lot of association with watermen and lighterman . There is a also strong Easton family that seems to run along side mine that were all watermen ....around the 1770s they married into the Meads and hence forth all the children were ........ Mead Easton
I hope we have some connections and look forward to your comments
Best regards James

Hi James
welcome to Rootschat.
My Eastons were all Thames watermen and all seemed to have married other watermen or the daughters of watermen. My 6x great grandfather William Easton married Alice Rogers in 1719. William was baptised in January 1694 at All Hallows the Great in the City of London, the son of John Easton and Mary whose dates and origins are unknown. I haven't found any connection to your Eastons or to the parish of St Clement Danes.

Hello Carolyn,
I am seeking more information on my ancestor Richard Easton, a waterman who married Mary Jennings at St Dunstans on 5 Jan 1759, and who had a daughter Elizabeth Sarah Easton, baptised at St Leonards Shoreditch in March 1769, listed as "of St Brides Workhouse". My own ancestor would be a sister of Elizabeth Sarah. Is this family one of your ancestors, or related to any of them in some way? Do you know anything of the family? I really appreciate any insights. Cheers

Hi Karen
I do have a Richard in my tree, baptised on 9 May 1725 at St Mary Rotherhithe. He was the brother of my Alice and son of William Easton born 1684 and Alice Rogers born 1694. However, I see the marriage record for your Richard says he was from St Botolph Colchester so I doubt they are the same person especially as I believe my Richard was buried on 6 May 1754 St Mary Rotherhithe
