Hi,
Is it possible for some one to look up the birth of George Alder born in Kingsclere in 1851 according to all the census I have seen. I have him married to Annie Jackson but can only find one entry for birth.
That being with his mother as Anna Alder and it looks as though she was unmarried. I am trying to eliminate any others that it may be around at that time.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Sue

The registration district for Kingsclere was Kingsclere and freebmd only shows one George Alder birth there which was 1840
www.freebmd.org.uk
Does he name a father on his marriage cert - although that can't always be relied on with illegitimate children

Hi Carole,
I don't have a birth certificate at all. I was going by the census that lists him on the 1901 and 1911 census as being born abt 1851 in Kingsclere. Have his death in Hungerford in 1934. Cannot trace a census from 1861 or 1871 that shows him.
Thanks for the swift reply.

Hi Sue, this one has kept me enthralled for a couple of hours, that marriage certificate would really help out!
The George Alder with an Anna was the baptism in Ampfield on 22nd August 1852, there is a death in Ampfield 6th April 1855 of a George Alder aged 2
Re census returns for him 1891 b c 1853 RG12/882/18/30 and 1881 b c 1851 RG11/1171/95/14
His occupation always appears to be a Carter, and he always gives pob as Kingsclere or on one return Kingclear.

In the 1891 his birth place is Berkshire.

In the 1911 he's back in Berkshire. death Berkshire 1934.

Looks like another one out of the window then. Here's a long shot, perhaps he dropped the Stephen.
Stephen George Alder. b 1851 Hungerford. Berkshire.

Stephen G Alder is born Ramsbury he is still on census in 1911 as Stephen G

Maybe the birth was never registered, that is why we really need marriage details

Hi,
Whilst waiting for the birth certificate. Is anyone able to look up the marriage and see who the witnesses were. This may help pin point George a bit more. i don't think he was Stephen George as Stephen appears on other census as well as George.
All help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

To lookup a marriage in parish records you have to know which church it took place in
Here are all the areas covered by the Alton RD
